McClain Family Portraits with Horse
McClain Family Portraits with Horse
We first photographed the beautiful, amazing McClain ladies for Lauren’s senior session – what a blast! I have loved every second of working with this incredible duo and I hope to do so again and again! Marianne and Lauren posed for a few mother daughter portraits during Lauren’s senior session (check them out!) and then again for a few family portraits with the dogs and horse a few weeks later. I got to photograph Marianne’s new pride and joy, Cody, running around Riversong Ranch, and that was really incredible! I have always loved horses, as most girls do, I think they are just beautiful. So getting to photograph Cody “running free” was really awesome. I hope you love these as much as I do!

Walker’s Durango Senior Portraits
Walker’s Durango Senior Portraits
Walker came in for his senior portraits near the end of the season. His mom warmed me he didn’t like having his picture taken; but we had an awesome session! Walker is a DHS Class of 2014 Senior and he was so great to work with. He has amazing blue eyes and he brought all blue clothing, plus we shot up at the Lion’s Den, so we had blue snow covered mountains in the background – it was a great combo. The favorite images from the session ended up being the ones with the mountains and the valley in the background, which is what you see here. Hope you love!

Cassie’s Beautiful Senior Portraits
Cassie’s Beautiful Senior Portraits
Cassie wins the award for traveling the furthest to have her senior portraits taken with us! She came all the way from Canada! We were so honored she chose us and we had a blast! Cassie great up in Farmington, NM, and just moved to Canada last year. She came “home” for a visit and to do her senior pictures in late October/early November. We started with hair and make up at Hair Fusion and Cassie looked beautiful! She brought a couple of her friends and we all had a great time together – joking and throwing leaves. I think photographing seniors who don’t live here in Durango helps me to appreciate the beauty of the place I get to call home. I’m always looking for new and unique backdrops for the seniors who live here, but when seniors come from out town, those “old” spots that “everyone uses” are perfect! Maybe next time I can go to Canada!

Kaleb’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Kaleb’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Kaleb was one of our first official senior sessions this season as he had to do his senior pictures over the summer, while he was home visiting. He is actually going to school elsewhere for basketball, but grew up here in Durango. I’ve worked with his mom in the past, through mutual clients/friends, so I was very excited when they decided to do his senior pictures with us. We shot his session up at Baker’s bridge, as it’s an awesome Durango location. We used his basketball in most of his portraits, which was fun for me. The river was the perfect shade of green and made for a great background. Hope you love!

Sam’s senior session was short and sweet, at my favorite river spot. He was super easy to work with, up for anything/everything. And I LOVE his hair. The green river complimented his green eyes and we timed the session with the fall colors perfectly. Hope you love!

Caitlin’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Caitlin’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Caitlin is such a beauty, inside and out. She was the recipient of our senior portrait scholarship this year and such a joy to work with. She and her dad are such fun people and we all laughed a lot together. I think that is the best way to approach life – with a sense of humor. I always feel so much better after laughing. That’s why living and working with Matt is so awesome – he’s hilarious. Back to Caitlin: we started in the studio, then headed to my favorite river/fall color spot in town. We used the river, tree, leaves, grass and we had times it just perfectly in terms of light. We shot as the sun went down and Caitlin looked ever more beautiful than she always does – if that’s even possible. I loved her hair – the way she styled it – with bangs and loose curls – is the way I would style my hair every day if it wouldn’t be a full on war every morning. I’ve surrendered to my naturally curly hair and it’s actually very low maintenance, who is truly my style. I also loved Caitlin’s outfits – I think I have the same pair of mint skinny’s – and I think its always a good sign when I have something in my closet similar to what my senior’s are wearing. Hope you love these as much as I do!

Chris’s Ski Senior Portraits
Chris’s Ski Senior Portraits
Chris is a Senior at Durango High School, Class of 2014, and even though we shot his entire session in the studio, it was a blast. We shot on my favorite fashion gray backdrop and played a lot with a bunch of different lighting set ups – which is always fun for me. It was short and sweet, but we still ended up with a ton of great images and I think he and his family liked every single one – and of course, so did I!

Trevor’s Golfing Senior Pictures
Trevor’s Golfing Senior Pictures
Trevor is the youngest, and therefore the last, of the Bogus siblings. I got to photograph his oldest brother, Garrett, and his older sister, Shanelle, for their senior pictures over the last few years. In fact, they were both models for us; Garrett in our inaugural model program and Shanelle coming through just last year. When Garrett was in our model program, we did an epic trash the formal shoot. One of his portraits of him in a tuxedo up to his shoulders in the water is still one of my all time favorite portraits. And we got to photograph Shanelle in her awesome prom dress with 2 horses; making for another epic shoot, and another of my all time favorite shots – that still graces the walls of my studio. So, Trevor, had some big shoes to fill. He more than lived up to my expectations and his session was incredible as well. We shot it out at Dalton, on the golf course. Trevor is a golfer – and also plays basketball and baseball. He has a great smile and was up for trying everything I could come up with. I am truly going to miss hanging out with their awesome mom, Wendi, now that all of her kids have come through. Keeping my fingers crossed for weddings next 😉

Bobby’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Bobby’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Bobby is a Class of 2014 Durango High School Senior and we all had a blast for his senior session. This one was a bit of an adventure – not necessarily more than any other session – but we wanted a new location that I’d never shot before – so we went in search of one, and we all loved where we ended up. It was a gorgeous afternoon and since it was a bit earlier than many sessions we shoot, I like the unique quality of the light, as the sun was higher in the sky. The fall colors were great and the blue green color of our river was true to form. Bobby was up for everything, which I always appreciate, and he had a few ideas of his own, with I also always appreciate. More than anything, I love that Bobby and his family love his images, so I hope you do as well!

Kristen’s Sleeping Beauty Ranch Senior Portraits
Kristen’s Sleeping Beauty Ranch Senior Portraits
Kristen is one of our gorgeous Durango High School Class of 2014 seniors. We photographed her session out at the gorgeous Sleeping Beauty Ranch (thanks Christy!) as Kristen’s main goal wasn’t fall colors, like most of our seniors. I just adore her beautiful blue eyes and she was such a natural in front of the camera. She’s a dancer and I think dancer’s have such a grace to the way they move. She even has super fast reflexes and grabbed my light stand before my strip box blew over; while I watched in slow motion through my viewfinder (thanks Kristen!). It wasn’t as warm as Kristen makes is look but she was tough and I am so happy with her portraits!

Mikayla’s Senior Pictures in Durango Colorado
Mikayla’s Senior Pictures in Durango Colorado
Mikayla, a DHS 2014 Senior has more energy than anyone I know – all of it positive. I love just being in her presence, as it lifts you up. So, of course, her senior session was a blast. Her incredibly long and beautiful hair is one of my favorite features of hers and I’m so glad we captured it. We saw Mikayla downtown a few days ago, on her way to donate about 10 inches of her hair – she’s so great. One of my favorite images from our model sessions last spring was from Mikayla’s model session – in our local candy store. So, we needed to get an image that was even more awesome than that on her senior session. Well, we ended up timing it all perfectly to capture one of the more incredible sunsets I can remember for a few of Mikayla’s portraits – pure incredibleness. Hope you love!

Robby’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
Robby’s Senior Pictures in Durango CO
I am always so honored when we get to photograph siblings of past senior portrait clients. It means we did it right the first time and I really appreciate the repeat business. It’s so much fun to work with new people as well, but it’s also pretty awesome to continue building a relationship. We photographed Robby’s sister, Elizabetha, for her senior pictures a few years back. So of course I was excited to hear from their mom when it was Robby’s turn. We had originally scheduled Robby’s session on a day that we had a full on blizzard, and you couldn’t see the awesome backdrop we wanted to use at Baker’s Bridge due to the snow and clouds. So, we rescheduled and that afternoon ended up being perfect. Baker’s is one of my favorites for the color of the water, the view back up the valley, etc, etc. Hope you love!
