Meg’s Senior Portraits in Durango Colorado
Meg’s Senior Portraits in Durango Colorado
Meg is amazing. I fell in love instantly when I met her in person for the first time while she was getting her hair and makeup done at Hair Fusion for her senior portraits. She goes to school in North Carolina, but her family and a lot of great friends, are here in Durango (and Montrose), so we had spoken on the phone, but hadn’t officially met. She had the awesome idea of shooting part of her session in a coffee shop, as she apparently lives on coffee. We used Durango’s Joe’s and the newly remodeled space was incredible for portraits. We used mostly window light – a bit of off camera flash and a reflector – and I love the looks we got. Meg’s friend Hailey came along and I might have taken as many friend portraits as I took senior portraits. They were beyond adorable together – I loved every second of this session! We finished up at the Lion’s den, with the gorgeous snow covered mountains in the background. Hope you love!

India’s Fun Senior Session with a Friend
India’s Fun Senior Session with Friend’s
India’s session was so much fun and even though you can’t tell from the images, it was also absolutely freezing! India was great and even though by the end I think she was about to become hypothermic, she never complained. Her best friend, Robin, came along for a few pictures, and she was great about the cold too. We shot the session up at the Lion’s Den, which probably didn’t help with temperature, but the views and sky were gorgeous – as was India! I love her name, don’t you!? India is a serious cyclist and we considered bringing her bike – which I would have loved – but I’m not sure any of us could have stayed outside any longer than we did without the bike. India and her mom created an awesome framed storyboard collage with her images and I can’t wait for them to hang it on their wall!

Alex’s Senior Session in Durango CO
Alex’s Senior Session in Durango CO
Alex came in her senior session last spring. We started with hair and makeup at Hair Fusion and she looked beautiful! I had a fun new lens I was trying out and I had an absolute blast experimenting with it. We started downtown for some some great “urban Durango” backdrops with her adorable puppy dog. Then we headed over to a client’s front yard to use their beautiful aspen grove. I love aspen tree trunks year round (I love them best in the fall, but they still look great even between seasons). Alex’s boyfriend and mom were part of our entourage and we had a great shoot! I just saw them all at the wedding expo this past weekend and they are now engaged – congratulations! Alex’s mom had us create a beautiful book from Alex’s session and she told us that she cried when she opened it at Christmas – loved hearing the story! We finished the session in the studio, with some beautiful traditional portraits. We even attempted a few black light portraits at the very end – Alex had lots of unique ideas. Hope you love these!

Riley’s Senior Pictures Durango CO
Riley’s Senior Pictures Durango CO
Riley is one of our awesome senior guys from Durango High School, Class of 2014. We photographed his session along the river behind the Double Tree, perfectly timed with the fall colors. At the end of his session, we added in his younger brother for a few sibling shots. I’m not sure either brother enjoyed that part so much but they looked great and made mom and I happy! Riley was so much fun and so easy to photograph. He has a great smile, a great “smize” and a great serious face. Hope you love!

Katja’s Senior Portraits in Durango
Katja’s Senior Portraits in Durango
Katja is one of our awesome Class of 2014 DHS Senior Models and I have been excited about photographing her senior portraits since I photographed her family and her brother’s senior portraits years ago. I’ve gotten to work with her through DHS student council throughout the years (homecoming, prom, etc, etc) and I have enjoyed every second! Katja’s senior session was amazing. We had to go high into the mountains for the gorgeous fall oranges and yellows (fall came later this past fall than I expected), but we also discovered some awesome new green locations too. Loved her hair, makeup, and outfits. I want that white sweater she wore. Just saying.
Nick’s Senior Portraits in Durango CO
Nick’s Senior Portraits in Durango CO
Nick is another great DHS Clas of 2014 Senior. He was the last DHS senior we photographed this season for the yearbook and we did his session all in the studio. I’m growing to love the studio more and more as I am completely in control of every factor and we can really truly focus on just the senior. It’s all about the expressions and looks that the senior’s friends and family know them by. I know many seniors, especially guys, come in dreading being photographed, and it always makes me so happy when they leave saying how much fun they had. Nick was no exception. Enjoy!

Emma’s Fall Color Senior Portraits
Emma’s Fall Color Senior Portraits
Emma is such a cutie! She is one of our awesome Class of 2014 senior models and a DHS senior. She also went to Guatemala with us (see those Destination Senior Pictures here). Her senior session was so much fun! We used a few spots that I hadn’t used this year or last (I’m always trying to find new locations to keep things unique and fresh, which sometimes means I don’t go back to certain spots for years). This made me remember why I loved those spots so much and made me happy I could offer Emma something that nobody else had this year. She cracks me up because she always talks about how awkward she feels, but she always looks amazing. I loved her outfits and think that she should probably take me shopping next time I go. Hope you love!

Carley’s Fall Senior Portraits
Carley’s Fall Senior Portraits
Carley is one of our DHS Class of 2014 Senior Models, so I’ve had the honor of photographing her before, for her model session. I also got to photograph her and her family last year, around this time, when we had gorgeous snow covered mountains as a backdrop. Carley’s senior session was just as awesome. We started at her house, which is gorgeous, then headed over to Durango Mountain Resort. It was still fall, not winter, but as soon as the sun dropped behind the mountains, it got COLD. We speed shot the rest of the session, jumping in and out of the car with the heater full blast. Carley was great, as usual, and I absolutely love her portraits!

Alec’s Amazing Senior Portraits With Airplanes
Alec’s Amazing Senior Portraits With Airplanes
Alec’s session was one of those that sticks out in your mind, even years later. He just earned his pilot’s license (congrats Alec!) and since flying is such a big part of his life, we went to the airport to use a plane or two for the shoot. Of course the weather threw a few curveballs at us, with snow and rain coming and going the whole time. We started in the studio, hoping to sway the weather to go one way or another. Then we headed downtown for a few urban/rustic shots (I know, that seems like an oxymoron, but in Durango, it’s not). Then we headed up to the airport and used a couple of really cool vintage planes. We also found some great vintage trucks and signs – what a perfect location! We finished the session with the gorgeous fall colors and Animas River in the background. I absolutely loved working with Alec and his mom Tonya and am so excited to be able to continue to do so! Alec’s sister, Rachel, is a Class of 2015 DHS student and just joined our model program. I hope you love these and stay tuned for more!

Emily’s Stunning Senior Portraits
Emily’s Stunning Senior Portraits
Emily’s senior session was awesome. As soon as she walked in the door of our studio with her incredible red hair; I knew it would be awesome. We shot at my favorite river spot and I love the contrast between the blue of the water and her hair. We used the great long grassy areas and at a passerby’s suggestion; walked down a trail until we found these “cool cottony branches”. Those are some of my favorite images of Emily; on that path and with the the “cotton”. The warm soft circular highlights in the background as Emily walked down the path and the sun give the images such a beautiful vintage feel. I hope you love them too!

Mandy’s Fun Senior Pictures in Durango
Mandy was really, really incredible to photograph. She’s a senior at Animas High School, Class of 2014, and participates in Durango High School’s theater program. We combined her senior session with a head shot session and wow! I loved all of Mandy’s different expressions. Mandy had her hair and makeup done at Hair Fusion and she looked incredible. We started in the studio, then headed to the river for a few fall/river portraits, then finished again in the studio. We used as many different light set ups as I could think of to give her a variety of choices and her session is probably one of my favorites. I hope you love!
