Chrissy and Kevin’s June 9, 2012 wedding reception photos at Animas Valley Sleeping Beauty Ranch are so much fun. Their reception was way too much fun; including activities such as cocktail hour, hula hooping, jumping in the lake, and dancing – a lot. Chrissy and Kevin didn’t do some of the “traditional” wedding activities such as cake cutting and bouquet/garter tosses. But they made up for it in how much fun all of their guests had celebrating with each other. What a great group of people! The hula hoops were a huge hit and once we were done with bride and groom portraits later in the evening, the groom and a few of his friends ended up in the water. I had been hoping that would happen; if only for the photographic opportunity, and it did. Kevin ended up having a few of his buddies help him throw his friend in first instead of Kevin going in first. Then Kevin did a front flip into the lake. More friends and family followed and it just kept getting better. There were also a ton of really adorable kids at this wedding so we followed them around quite a bit, watching them hula hoop, dance, and play in the fountain. Chrissy and Kevin did have a first dance and that was fun too because they danced with each other, then their respective mother and father, then everybody else was invited in – all in one song. There was a lot of great dancing, including a choreographed dance to “Jane Fonda” by Mickey Avalon by the bride and her girlfriends. There were quite a few really great toasts as well, with Chrissy and Kevin laughing and crying the whole time. We captured it all.
